Round robin generator

Enter teams or players and get a schedule where everyone plays everyone. Odd numbers get a fair bye rotation, home and away are balanced, and games are spread across as many courts or fields as you have.

How to make a round robin schedule

  1. Type the teams or players, one per line.
  2. Set how many courts or fields you have, and choose single or double round robin.
  3. Press Generate schedule. Each round lists the matchups, the court, and who has a bye.
  4. Print it, or download a CSV to open in a spreadsheet or import into your schedule.

How a round robin works

In a round robin every team plays every other team once. With an even number of teams that takes one fewer round than there are teams: 8 teams play 7 rounds of 4 games. With an odd number, one team sits out each round, so 7 teams play 7 rounds of 3 games and each team gets exactly one bye.

This generator uses the circle method: one team stays put and the rest rotate a spot each round. It guarantees no repeat matchups and nobody plays twice in a round.

Courts, fields and waves

Tell the generator how many courts or fields you have and it numbers each game's court. If a round has more games than courts, the extras go to a second wave on the same courts.

A double round robin repeats the schedule with home and away swapped, which suits leagues that play a full season.

FAQ

Questions, answered.

Is the round robin generator free?

Yes. It runs in your browser with no sign-up, and you can print or export as many schedules as you need.

How many rounds are in a round robin?

One fewer than the number of teams when that's even (10 teams play 9 rounds), or the same as the number of teams when it's odd, because each round has a bye.

How many games are in a round robin?

n × (n − 1) ÷ 2 for n teams. Six teams play 15 games; ten teams play 45. A double round robin doubles that.

Can I use it for pickleball or individual players?

Yes. Enter players or fixed pairs instead of teams. Set the number of courts and each round tells everyone where to go.

Can I put the schedule into BenchApp?

Yes. Download the CSV, add dates and times, and import it with BenchApp's schedule import. Every player then gets the schedule, RSVP requests and reminders.
